La Chalupa Transmission and Collections
Completed in 2020, La Chalupa is an Acciona wind project in Cameron County, Texas. It consists of 63 Nordex AWP 3150 wind turbines that produce more than 650 GWh a year, which is enough to supply power to 62,500 households.
Sentry crews successfully completed essential transmission and collections work for the project. Teams installed steel monopoles and ran 10 miles of transmission line with 795 aluminum conductor steel reinforced (ACSR).
They also dug 49.2 miles of trench with 252 MW terminations, 29 junction boxes, and 34 splice boxes, as well as 308,100 feet of fiber in innerduct.
Sentry Electrical teams provided both transmission and collections work for Acciona’s La Chalupa wind project in Cameron County, Texas.
